Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Gondar to Sankaber
Depart early from Gondar to the park office in Debark. After arranging permits and meeting your scout, drive to the park entrance. You can choose to hike from Buyit Ras, enjoying ridge-top views and spotting your first Gelada baboons before arriving at the Sankaber campsite.
Day 2: Sankaber to Gich
Follow the ridge for breathtaking views of the foothills 800m below. Witness the Jinbar River plunging into the Gich Abyss before continuing to Gich village, where you will set up camp among the Giant Lobelias.
Day 3: Imet Gogo & Saha Gorge Circuit
Hike to Imet Gogo (3,926m) for a stunning 360-degree panorama of the Simien range. Explore the Siha Gorge for lunch before an optional sunset walk to Kedadit, returning to Gich for the night.
Day 4: Gich to Innatye to Chennek

Day 5: Chennek to Sona (2,600m)
Ascend to the Buwahit Pass (4,200m), where you have the best chance to spot the rare Ethiopian Wolf. Descend into the lowlands to the village of Arkwaisye for a traditional coffee ceremony before reaching the Sona campsite.
Day 6: Sona to Mekareba
Descend 1,000m into the Incya Valley. After lunch by the river, enjoy a refreshing swim before hiking along the riverbanks to the Mekareba campsite.
Day 7: Mekareba to Mulet
Continue along the riverbed, an excellent area for birdwatching. Stop at the Derkwenth pool for a swim before climbing to Awazza village to see the spectacular “Table Mountain” and finishing at the Mulet campsite.
Day 8: Mulet to Gondar
Complete a final 3-hour walk to Adi Arkay, where your vehicle will meet you for the return drive to Gondar.
