Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Jinka & Ari Village
Arrive in Jinka and visit the South Omo Research Center to learn about the region’s diverse ethnic groups. In the afternoon, explore a traditional Ari village to see local pottery and blacksmithing demonstrations.
Day 2: Mursi Tribe & Turmi
Drive into Mago National Park to visit a Mursi village, famous for the clay plates worn by the women. In the afternoon, proceed to Turmi, the heartland of the Hamer people, known for their elaborate hairstyles and the Evangadi night dance.
Day 3: Omorate & Hamer Markets
Excursion to Omorate to cross the Omo River and visit the Dasenech people. Return to visit a bustling tribal market in Turmi or Alduba, and keep an eye out for local Hamer “Bull Jumping” ceremonies.
Day 4: Karo Tribe & Konso Villages
Drive to Murille to visit the Karo tribe, the smallest ethnic group in the valley, famous for their intricate body painting. Continue to Konso to see the UNESCO-listed ancient stone terracing and wooden statues (Wakas).
Day 5: Return to Arba Minch & Addis Ababa
Enjoy a final morning in the southern highlands before driving to Arba Minch for your flight back to the capital.
